Overview

The FFA Talent Event is designed to develop individual or group talent, stimulate member participation, and further talent development among the FFA membership. Regional talent winners and alternates must be certified in the same manner as other FFA CDEs.

 

Qualifications and event guidelines:

• Only bona fide FFA members with state dues paid for the current school year will be eligible.

• Each region will select two (2) acts to compete at the state level from their regional qualifying event.  A recording of each act will be shared for the preliminary round with the Minnesota FFA CDE Coordinator.  A panel of judges will review the videos and narrow the field to 10 acts to participate in the semi-final round live at the Talent Show prior to the first session on Sunday at the State FFA Convention.  Each of the top 10 acts will also perform live at an additional session during the convention.  The top 3 acts will perform at the last two sessions and be on stage at the last session for placings.

• Appropriate awards will be given to top talent and individual participants. 

• Any individual or a group of no more than 7 members may compete. No previous state talent CDE winner may repeat in the regional or state talent event.

• Appropriate dress for the talent being performed will be worn for talent competition.

• Talent numbers shall be up to five minutes in length for competition and judging. A penalty of five points for each minute over time will be deducted from the total score.

• One accompanist will be allowed per entry. This individual must perform as an actual accompanist and counts toward the maximum of seven.

• If the talent act is a singing act using pre-recorded music, no vocals of any kind are allowed within the pre-recorded music. This rule does not apply to other talent acts.

 

Only the top three placing acts will be announced at the Tuesday awards session. The remaining acts will be listed in alphabetical order. Up to 9 acts will be asked to perform during the convention sessions.

Complete and submit the Talent registration by the state registration deadline.
