State Fair Ambassadors

The Ambassador for Leadership applications are due May 1, 2018.  The application is about the FFA member’s ability to communicate with others; their knowledge of and discussion about agriculture education, agriculture, and FFA.  


Session 1 Ambassadors will arrive Wednesday, August 22 by noon or earlier and work through Sunday, August 26 around 5 p.m. We will spend Wednesday finalizing the display for the fair and setting up.  We will have a debrief with all volunteers, veterinarians, and staff around 5-6 on Wednesday.   

Session 2 Ambassadors will arrive Sunday, August 26 by 3 p.m. and work through Thursday, August 30 at 5 p.m.  

Session 3 Ambassadors will arrive Thursday, August 30 by 3 p.m. and work through Monday, September 3 at 5 p.m. 


We accommodate work load by scheduling daily routine for meals and breaks; however the display opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. daily. A typical day is from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. with three breaks during the day.  


Duties include:

  • Morning & Evening Cleaning

  • Presentations on the Christensen Farm Stage

  • Holding Animals for Fairgoers

  • Sharing Personal Experiences with Fairgoers

  • Media/Interview Opportunities

A training day for all Ambassadors, Barnies, Staff and Veterinarians will be held July 30, 2018.  The training will include additional communication skills, knowledge of the animals and the key messages.  The training will review responsibilities and instruction on the activities to be performed on the stage.
