The Food Science CDE will be offered in two dates and locations this year. Teams must register to compete at one of the two qualifying events in order to advance to the state competition at Howard Lake. Competition info is below:
Qualifying Event Scenario:
Category: Meal (Regional Competition: Main Dish only)
Platform: Ready to eat
Clarifications: Label on packaging is company policy with a to-go package option. Participants will be provided with a turkey burger and bun with the challenge being to transform the burger to meet the desires of the target audience for the Team Product Development Project. Participants will only create the burger as the main dish during competition. Nutrition and marketing should focus on the burger only at the regional level.
Also, please note that the 1 hour time will include clean up. Teams must leave their kitchens and work spaces in the same state as when they began or a penalty will be applied.
Qualifying Event Locations & Dates:
Registration will open on Monday, October 16 at 6 am at this link: https://form.jotform.com/MNFFA/1718FoodScience. Registration locations are on a first registered basis. You will be notified if your location is not available and placed on a waiting list or moved to an alternate location. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Teams will be accepted into each qualifying event on a first-registered, first-accepted basis. Advisors will need to indicate their preference of competition venue.
Teams from each qualifying event will advance to the State Finals in Willmar on March 27.
The event scenario will be modified for the finals round competition.
